Overview:

As a way to promote the rich past, recognize the investments made to preserve the historic heritage and provide for a standard way to mark residential properties,  the Irving Park Historical Society has created a program to recognize homes within the confines of Old Irving Park that are over a century old.  This recognition is in the form of a bronze plaque (see Figure 1), provided to the homeowner at no cost per the program details.

Program Details:

  • Applicant must make a formal application (forms to be provided in print and online format) and mail it to the address provided on the form.
  • Applicant must be the owner of the property.
  • If the applicant is not a member of IPHS, then the there will be an application fee of 15$ (payable to IPHS) which is applied towards membership.
  • Property must reside within the confines of Old Irving Park – Bordered by Addison to the south, Montrose to the North, Pulaski to the east and Kolmar to the West.
  • The plaque is provided on a one-time basis.  Replacement plaques are available for a fee.
  • Each property will receive a registration number that will be correlated to a file in the IPHS archives along with a current picture of the property.
  • A finite amount of plaques shall be given at any given year within budget constraints.  If recognition is delayed due to budget constraints applicatants will automatically be added to the program in a first come/served in the following budget years.
  • Homeowner must agree to the terms of the Homeowner Agreement.
  • IPHS reserves the right to revoke the privilege to display the plaque at any time for any reason that the Board of Directors sees fit.
