The Irving Park Historical Society has put together a FREE one hour walking tour through the neighborhood where you will learn about the history of the area as well as hear stories of the neighborhood’s rich architectural history.  At the end of the walk, refreshments, including wine and cheese, will be served at St. John’s Church, 3857 N. Kostner. This years house and garden walk will be fabulous, featuring 6 houses and 3 Gardens! From a 1920s bungalow to one of the oldest and most treasured houses in the neighborhood.

This year, we have added a Trolly Car Style bus service to shuttle you between selected houses!

The walk is from 10am to 4pm, the starting point is at Mount Olive Church – 3850 N. Tripp (Byron Street Entrance).

You can buy advanced ticket vouchers at Pert Cleaner -4213 W Irving Park, City Newstand-4018 N. Cicero or on-line through PayPal.

Pre-Pay Ticket Vouchers are 20$ Each. (25$ at the door).

Author Richard Lindberg treated us to some gruesome tales on not only Lizzie Borden, but “Heartland Serial Killers” Belle Gunness and Johann Hoch. We explored further some facts on famous mass murderer H. H. Holmes, learned a few new ones about OIP’s own infamous Dr. Eye, and had a good time discussing historic gore. Thanks to Mr. Lindberg, who always provides a wealth of information on any topic he shares with us. Next meeting is June 19 — stay tuned for details!
