IPHS Team Members

Cillione Tan

Hello, I’m Cillione Tan, a graduate student at the University of Chicago pursuing a Master of Public Health with a Data Science concentration.

My passion is addressing public health concerns using data-driven methods and improving population health outcomes. With a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and German from the University of California—Santa Barbara, I have gained valuable experience working in both the academic and private sectors. In 2019, I worked as a chromatography analyst at Anresco Laboratories in San Francisco, CA, involved in analyzing samples for food and pharmaceutical testing. In 2021, I worked as a Laboratory Assistant II at Stanford University School of Medicine’s Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research. I engaged with study participants during routine site visits, manufactured pharmaceutical products, and analyzed allergen samples. I am excited to contribute to the mission of the Institute for Population Health Sciences and enhance the well-being of marginalized communities.

Jamie Henning

Jamie Henning (she/her) is a graduate student at the University of Kentucky pursuing a Master in Public Health in Health Policy and Management. Her passion for public health stems from both personal and professional experiences, and she is particularly interested in chronic disease and preventative health. With a background in neuroscience, psychology, and Spanish, Jamie hopes to bring an interdisciplinary perspective to public health issues. She is passionate about promoting equity, creating sustainable community partnerships, and conducting responsible research.
 
In her previous work, Jamie has gained experience in research on neurobiology, mental health, and preventative health. She is eager to expand her knowledge of public health issues and support related initiatives. In her free time, Jamie enjoys learning Spanish, spending time outdoors, and rehabilitating her German Shepherd rescue.

Elizabeth Boyman

Elizabeth is a conservatory trained mezzo-soprano currently attending Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (class of 2024). She completed her undergraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music (2015) and Post-Baccalaureate at the City College of New York (2019). She is active in student government and outreach, serving on several committees including Equity and Diversity, Parental Leave Policy Development,  and Curriculum Development as well as mentoring underclassmen and assisting with OBGYN didactic education. Her bench research experience includes work with dissection, motility experiments, and rt-PCR with poster presentations at national conferences. Her clinical research interests lie in the social determinants of health and health equity, with a planned residency project investigating current post-partum depression screening practices.  
Elizabeth currently lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, composer Mike Boyman, as well as their 3 year old son and 9 year old cat.

Debolina Bhulmik

Debolina holds a Ph.D. in Population Science and an M. Phil in Economics, specializing in National Transfer Accounts and Ageing. She is a passionate researcher and data analytics professional. She worked at Harper College as an Institutional Researcher for the state of Illinois and worked as a Research Officer for a project to study Kala-azar in India, jointly commissioned by the Government of India and WHO where she also led the Field Survey leading a team of 40+ investigators. She won the K. Srinivasan Award for best paper and her research was featured in IHDS. Debolina completed a Data Science certification from Northwestern University.

Jennifer Baik

I’m a student at Northwestern University, studying Biological Anthropology and Global Health. On campus, I’ve been involved in Asian American student organizations, Simpli-Sci, a non-profit startup, and primate gut microbiome research. I’m passionate about public health through a focus on prevention and collaboration. In my free time, I like to play tennis and explore Chicago!

Lizzie Huffaker

Hi I’m Lizzie and I am a rising fourth year at The University of Chicago majoring in Philosophy and Health and Society. I am originally from Seattle, WA, but also lived in Pittsburgh, PA before coming to Chicago for school. I am passionate about bridging current socioeconomic gaps in health literacy and improving access to healthcare in disadvantaged communities. Outside of school, I am the president of my A Cappella group and enjoy taking late-night walks and bike rides around Chicago. Excited to be joining the IPHS team this summer!

Nandini Kapoor

My name is Nandini Kapoor, and I recently graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a B.S. in neuroscience and a minor in economics. I had the opportunity to volunteer at UI Health, free health clinics, and the Pilsen food pantry, where we provided blood pressure screenings. Through these experiences, I immersed myself in urban health care and developed a passion for public health. Specifically, I am interested in chronic disease epidemiology, reducing health disparities, and improving preventative measures. In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, trying new restaurants, and cooking. I am excited to contribute to the mission of IPHS to improve population health!

Walker Frisbie

Hello! My name is Walker Frisbie and I am originally from San Francisco, California. I am in the Northwestern University class of 2025 studying Data Science and Global Health Studies. After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I will be pursuing a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Data Science through Northwestern Feinberg Medical School. My main interest in public health lies in the intersection of data and healthcare, specifically looking at how we can use data to create solutions to drug addiction as well as the unhoused crisis in America. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking and I run a food blog. I also enjoy watching and talking about sports through a podcast that is connected to my blog. Finally, I enjoy spending time outside hiking, biking, surfing, golfing, and playing volleyball. I am excited to be a part of the team this summer and for the opportunity to work with many talented individuals!

Mallory Mireles

My name is Mallory Mireles, originally from San Antonio, Texas. I am a junior at DePaul University majoring in neuroscience and minoring in mathematics. This winter, I’ve been involved in Alzheimer’s Disease research at DePaul. With an interest in Spanish language and culture, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Madrid, Spain this past semester, immersing myself in a variety of European cultures. My experiences have fueled my drive for positive change in healthcare, particularly in reducing health inequities, and I am happy to have the opportunity to contribute to the IPHS team!

Jane An

Hello, my name is Jane An and I’m a recent graduate from University of Illinois Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health and a Biology minor. Through my time at UIC, I worked at the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the School of Public Health and founded the Public Health book group (who still meets post-grad!). Since May, I have been working full-time at the Chinese American Service League (CASL) as a Community Health Navigator, partnered with the South Side Health Equity Collaborative. I’m ecstatic to work in a field related to my degree and to serve my community. I’m grateful for the learning experience at IPHS.

Nikita Nayak

My name is Nikita Nayak and I am currently a first-year student at the University of Illinois Chicago. I am majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Organismal Biology, and minoring in Chemistry and Sociology. I am also a member of the Honors College. Outside of school, I like to crochet, read, and explore Chicago with my friends.

Akshita Wadhwa

I am a senior pursuing a double degree in Biological Sciences and Integrated Health Sciences and will graduate in the Summer of 2023 from University of Illinois at Chicago. I currently serve as the treasurer and event coordinator of the Psi-chi honors society, and treasurer of MSEI, and have previously served as head of the communications committee for TedxUofIChicago. I am also a valuable member of the student organization umbrella and medical brigades. I am currently a resident assistant and student ambassador at UIC. She is also part of the Honors College and The Honors Society. I was honored as homecoming court of UIC 2022.

Bridget Neville

I’m originally from Omaha, Nebraska and I am in the DePaul University class of 2025, studying public health and Spanish. I love public health because it combines my loves of science and social justice. Outside of school and work, I love to take walks around my neighborhood, get coffee with friends, and binge reality TV.

Disha Sharma

My name is Disha Sharma and I am currently a first year student at the University of Illinois Chicago. I am majoring in Molecular Biology and planning to add a minor in Chemistry. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and listening to music. Additionally, I am a volunteer at UI Health where I help medical professionals with clerical tasks. I also prepare patient materials to make patient admission and discharge a smooth transition. I was also a part of my High School dance team and played flute for 5 years. I would like to say that I am an extremely hardworking and determined person, and I like to make sure things are done proficiently and in a timely manner.

Helena Schatzki​

I am a Theater, Anthropology, and Global Health student at Northwestern University originally from Lexington, KY. I am interested in public health with a focus on health equity, and more specifically health disparities within chronic conditions. I desire to find an integrative approach to public health through my experiences in politics, theater, and anthropology to bring about positive change. I love to be outdoors with my dogs and enjoy long walks!
